Maintaining a Relationship With the Other Parent
For a child's sake, the best environment, both before and after the divorce, is one that is friendly and civil. Most parents ask, "What do you mean by business-like?" The answer to this question is quite simple. When in a successful business with a partner, both communicate well with one another and have common business goals. As business partners, each does not have to love one another or even be best friends to be successful. It is the common mission and goals that keep both focused and working hard. Parents who can recognize the common goal of caring for the best interests of their child naturally create a civil relationship. A great place to begin is mutually understanding that together as a team each must redefine parenting roles.
