Establishing and Building Trust With the Other Parent
Trust is important for any relationship. Often trust does not exist between the parents, due to the marital breakdown. Formerly married parents must create trust within the new parenting agreement. Former partners must allow for the trust to recreate itself within the new parenting relationship. The new trust builds on elements that include punctuality for meetings and visitations, prompt return of telephone calls, and cooperation through the divorce. These actions work best reciprocally. Trust is not established overnight.
